Step 1: Get Your Custom Indicator
The first thing you need to do is find a custom indicator. There are many websites that offer custom indicators, both free and paid. You can also check our website for various tools. One recommended site is the MQL5 website, where you can easily find and download indicators directly to your computer.
Step 2: Extract the Indicator
Once you’ve downloaded the indicator, it will likely be in a zip file. Right-click on the file and select “Extract” to unzip it. This will give you the indicator as an MQL5 source file.
Step 3: Copy the Indicator to MetaTrader
Now that you have the indicator file, it’s time to move it to your MetaTrader platform. Open MetaTrader, click on “File,” and then select “Open Data Folder.”
Once you’re in the data folder, find the folder labeled “MQL5,” open it, and then go to the “Indicators” folder. Here, you can right-click and paste your indicator source file.
Step 4: Refresh the Navigator
After pasting the file, you may not see the navigator window open in MetaTrader. To access it, click on “View” and then “Navigator,” or simply press Ctrl + N.
In the Navigator, click on “Indicators” and then hit the plus sign to expand the list. Right-click on “Indicators” and select “Refresh.” This will update the list and show your newly added indicator.
Step 5: Add the Indicator to Your Chart
Now that your indicator is visible in the Navigator, simply drag and drop it onto your chart. A pop-up window may appear allowing you to adjust settings, but if you’re unsure, just click “OK” to apply the default settings.
